Looking to purchase a home defense, 18.5" barrell shotgun.

Might just be bad timing with all the unrest but hard to find and when I do they are drastically over-priced.

I actually like the Mossberg Maverick as a low-price option.

If anyone has one they are wanting to unload in the Dallas area let me know!

Not sure i have major brand preference. I think Benelli would likely be out of my price range. Would like to keep under $500/$600 to be honest....nothing too fancy.

If it's just gonna be home defense and not used much, I'd look at the Mossberg Maverick 88 defensive. I've got one and it's fine (and cheap).

I recently purchased a benelli M4 through TexasGunTrader. I was having the same trouble you're having as most retailers are out of stock on anything HD. There were several sellers on TGT that had HD shotguns for sale. Just have to wade through the scammers to find a real seller. Meet face to face at a gun range and don't mail anyone money.

If it is strictly a home defense shotgun, the Mossberg Maverick is just fine. It will do the job for home defense. The Remington Home Defense is a little finer but comes with a finer price tag too.

I had a Winchester defender that I married into, and out of. There was something about that gun, not to get sexual but it felt like it had a short smooth stroke.

Much like the best pistol to have I'm going to recommend The Judge.



Doesn't take up as much space and it spreads a lot of lead.
