I was fishing Beavers Bend last weekend. There was myself, and another guy in the area, fishing a pool, slowly making our way further into the river from Lower Cardiac (third turnout below the spillway). We weren't in each other's way, and weren't in the same types of water. In other words, we were good. All of a sudden, a guide with two people come walking through the river from the other side. They walked through 30 yards of good fishable water, water that I was working towards, to set up shop right on the edge of where me and the other guy were. There were 3 other people in sight, two of them were my brother and friend. He had the entire river to fish. The other guy looks at me, and says "What the hell? I've been fishing here for 5 years and have never had someone take over a spot and choke me out like that. Whatever happened to common courtesy?" I agreed with him, grumbled at the guy, and kept fishing. I proceeded to pull two trout out of that hole, before moving further downstream, as I was now crowded out. By myself, I outfished the guide AND his two clients 5 to 1 that morning.
After fishing, we headed to the fly shop. Eddie wasn't there but his wife was, and I told her about the guide (knowing he wasn't one of theirs), and how ridiculous it was that he would walk through 30 yards of good fishable water to try to choke other fishers out. She said he's done it before, and that his name was Chris Shaddy (sp?).
Fast forward to the Sunday morning. The guide is back with two more clients. I rig my brother's pole up, and we fish further down stream again. I didn't see the guide pull a single fish out of the water. My brother and I got 4.
I seriously question the competency of this man. It appeared to me that he really didn't know how to find trout. If he did, he didn't appear to try to. He sat on a rock in the same spot for at least an hour and a half both days. He may have just been collecting his paycheck from gullible tourists. Word to the wise, stay away from Chris Shaddy if you're looking for a guide in Beavers Bend.
TL/DR: Chris Shaddy is a horrible guide. Don't use him.
Edit: Mods, please delete my other two posts. I don't know what happened
