Was planning on getting another gas grill but just pulled the trigger on the Rec Tec RT 700.

Should be here in about a week. I'm having this built in to the outdoor kitchen in my backyard that we're having built in the next couple weeks. Really looking forward to cooking on a pellet grill. Ordered some grillgrates for searing too.

I just got my first pellet grill a few weeks ago. I won an Oklahoma Joe Rider DLX in a raffle. So far, I'm really happy with it. It won't replace my Kamado Joe, but it adds a lot of grill space and gives me some versatility.

I've had a Rectec for 4 years. Had multiple problems with it. But, I will say their customer service is excellent.

Same experience. So many gremlins, but I was taken care of by their CS. That said...at some point I'm just going to get tired of replacing parts.

As one Ag said, if it has electronics it will break at some point. That's why I went with the primo xl.

I have a RT-700

No issues so far, but I've only had it 6mos. I keep it covered and on a covered patio.

Hopefully I won't have too many issues. Luckily it has a 6 year warranty. I'm just going to have to make sure since I'm having it built in that I can take the control panel out if it ever needs to be replaced. Found a few pics of others who have built it in.

We have a covered patio but the outdoor kitchen will be on the outer perimeter so it will be exposed to some rain. I'm going to have to custom make (rig) a good cover so it doesn't get wet or let water in the pellet chamber.

I've owned a 700 for two years without a problem...it is located on a covered porch and it has been a great addition...I still use a gas grill for some things but have really enjoyed the pellet grill...

Can any of you who own one tell me if it's required to have good air flow to the control module? If so I'm going to have to think how we can integrate it in the brick/stone.

I e owned the 590 for three years now. Never a single issue. It's legitimately one of my very favorite things I own.

Was gonna get a rec tec but I think I have decided on the Pit Boss Platinum KC Combo. Looks sweet and cheaper

I don't want to seem negative, but I wouldn't build this unit into anything permanent.

Building it in to make it look like it's set, but still going to be able to remove it if needed.

I have a RT 680. Had it for 4-5 years. Not a single issue with it.

I busted one of the wheels taking it campingcompletely my faultand they send me a new one no questions asked.

My wife calls my 680 "the mistress".

How long have you had yours? I've literally got the RT-700 sitting in my online cart waiting to hit submit. Thanks for any feedback.

Had the 700 for about a year now. No problems whatsoever, but have heard the customer service is second to none. Have actually seen it happen as the president of the company has jumped onto the Facebook group himself and helped people out.

Used to think pellet smoking was kind of a "cheat", and maybe I still feel that way when it comes to competition, but to have one at the cookoff as a back up is a good deal, or at home cooking for the family, there is no better way.

Just started some salsa a bit ago....

I've got a 590 that was given to me by my step FIL about a month ago. He had it almost three years, and only had to replace a couple igniter rods (he uses his several times a week). A few small areas where the paint is starting to peel on the sides near the lip of the barrel, but overall not bad. He only got rid of it to upgrade to the 700 which he loves as well.

I've now cooked a pork butt a couple weeks ago and a brisket yesterday (and a few other quick cooks since I've had it). It may seem like cheating, but idgaf. Easier to cook (basically) the exact same thing? Sign me up. I'd likely buy my own now that I've spent some time with a pellet smoker.

Looked at the rectec. Bought a Grilla Silverbac due to a holiday sale. No complaints n. Love that it is full SS internals.

Looked at getting a red Tec/pellet to replace my BGE that I sold when we moved across the country. Was very close to pulling the trigger, but couldn't get past the fact that I'd need to plug in my smoker to make a brisket. They do produce some incredible food, but I like to have a real fire.

I kept my BGE for the high temps and pizza. The house we bought a few years back had a built in 4 burner Napoleon grille as well. I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me build in a griddle too.. running out of space. I felt like it was cheating too, but now I just cheat all the time. I haven't smoked anything on the egg since I bought it

I've had mine for 6 months, love it and the app is super easy to use. It does cook faster so it took a few trials to get it down, mostly for trying to get a good bark on things I had to turn it down 25 degrees.

I looked at a lot of these grills everyone is posting and my jaw dropped at the prices. I thought I wanted one, but dang, they are high and when you use them, you still have to buy these pellets for them. I thought I wanted a traeger or pit boss, but seeing these other brands, made me reconsider, but that's a lot of dough to put down.

Selling plasma, here we go.

They're 1/5 the price of a stick burner the same size!

I've had a 680 for several years and I absolutely love it.

Never had a single issue with the unit.

I did have a lab pup chew the wiring harness on two different occasions and both times, RecTec sent me a new one at no charge. I can't think of any product I own that has better customer service.

We've had a rec tec at the ranch for about 8 years. Lots of issues but customer service has always been fantastic.

So finally got a chance to burn it in and do the first cook yesterday evening. Didn't want to do anything fancy so just did some 80/20 burgers and bacon wrapped green beans. The flavor of the burgers was amazing. They were juicy and cooked evenly all the way through. Cooked them on GrillGrates and cooked the bacon wrapped green beans on the standard grates. Can't wait to do a few more cooks and then a brisket/pork butt on 4th of July weekend.

How long did it take you to cook the burgers?

I had them on the sear kits for 8-9 minutes a side at 400 rotating them half through to get nice sear marks. I think next time I'll turn it up to 450 so they don't take quite as long. But since it was my first cook I wasn't sure how hot it would get with the sear kit.
