I've done my best to follow Randy's lawn schedule this past year but the preemergant schedule still did not wipe out the large ingrowth of dove weed in my backyard.

I know step one is ripping out as much as I can but what can I treat the leftovers with that will kill it and stop the spread. This is the third year I am fighting it

Atrazine but be careful not to over apply and hurt trees, shrubs, or your turfgrass.

If by "dove weed" you mean goat weed / woolly croton, just show it a container of 2,4-D, and it will start to wilt.

Though the seeds seem to be never ending in presence, able to survive an apocalypse, the plants are easily controlled.

I opened this expecting a complaints that you were having a hard time getting your goat weed patch started for dove season

I'm like another poster, and identify "dove weed" as Texas Croton, which is a tall, gangly, ash colored weed, with a main, woody stem. It'll reach 2' in height. What you've pictured is more like a grass.

I would actually start with this. Mix a little dish soap with it.

I always use weed B gone for any broad leafs that escape the pre emerging team applications. It three years it has never touched this.

It's a State Limited Use herbicide who's label says do not use around homes or in recreational areas.

1qt/acre. It was predominantly used for carpet burweed control, but we learned it knocked out doveweed as well. Slight phyto in the summer so we spot sprayed it.

MSM is granules, so that's 0.75 oz weight, not volume.

Yes. As stated above it is a granule measured by weight. .75oz/acre is a very small amount. The product is dissolved so it can be sprayed

I went and talked to the nearest garden center and no I don't mean box store. From talking to them there isn't anything that is going to kill it and keep it gone. It lasts too long in the turf, the way to eradicate it is flat kill everything and repair the damage that allowed it to prosper in the first place.

With that in mind I'm going to work on stuff that will kill it back it places that it is sparse as well as pull as much as I can. The back corner....is getting the round up treatment. I have chosen to kill it all, go back in and till in new compost as well as try to work on some soil compaction so the area drains better. After these are done I will go back in with new turf in hopes of keeping it strong enough to fight of weeds.

I did remember something that I had forgotten, this area was where my yard got decimated by the sod web worms a few years ago, in addition to flooding in Houston etc
