In town you could do shoemaker lake in Bryan near The Feed Barn. It's not the prettiest but I would kayak fish there in college. If you do fish, I'd catch and release only from that lake and avoid excess contact with the water.

People will laugh, but me and some buddies floated the Brazos in college. The idea was alcohol induced but it was a blast.

It would be great for a long distance paddle board. I plan on kayaking it again soon. I start at HWY 21 and drop a car at 60.
