Any advice to get rid of moles? House is in the suburbs of Houston. Some things I read are using a sonic device. Also recommended sparring the grass with castor oil.

I'll start putting out a pesticide for the grubs but I think the moles will find plenty of worms and other food.

Also I'm assuming it's moles. I have a couple dirt mounds that have popped up over the last month or so.

. I have seen gopher traps at homedepot and lowes, tried in a couple holes but never have been successful so my boys use shotguns when they poke their head out but we live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere

If you have roundish mounds, then you have gophers. If a long tunnel of dirt is at ground level, then moles.

For moles, I use Motomco Mole Killer bait worms.

For gophers, use two traps with the business end pointing outwards in their tunnel (you don't know which direction they will come from), anchor them with wire or string tied to a long nail or bamboo stuck in the ground (so they won't run off with your traps). You can put peanut butter on the trap as bait. Cover the hole with something that will keep the light\draft away from their tunnel such as black plastic wrap, roofing felt with something on top to keep it in place.

I trapped two today - big ones.

Me and my neighbors tried everything before we found these! Now within a couple days of seeing a new one has moved in he's dead and gone.

I declared jihad on the moles about a year ago. I've killed a dozen or so that I know of. There's no telling how many the poison worms have taken out.

Unfortunately, controlling moles in the suburbs is about like trying to control weeds. If your neighbors aren't putting any effort into it, you'll be waging a never ending battle. It's a war of attrition, and their numbers are starting to wear down my give-a-damn.

Have you tried Gasoline and a match? Bonus, as it also aerates the yard...

Get a Weimaraner. We had one that was crazy focused on running the clearings and digging them up and killing them.

He got extremely efficient at it. He could either hear them or smell them underground. He would dig straight down to them. He could track them from the surface when they moved, then go straight down to them. It was incredible. He would dig so fast that a wave of soil would persist behind him 6 feet high. Jake was a solid dog.
