I realize I have an...overabundance...of .22lr ammo but only one .22lr pistol (Ruger mk IV target in stainless). I'm thinking I need to add another pea shooter to the collection after all this panic buying cools off.

Suggestions?

I've heard nothing but great things for years about the M&P .22. No personal experience, but that'd be my choice because it's proven and been on the market long enough to have plenty of supporting products.

My mk IV is my favorite. I love the simple way to clean.

If I were you I would just get another

Taurus TX22 has been popular lately and considered highly reliable with varied ammo.
I may get a S&W M&P 22 compact with threaded barrel to train family with.

If you wanna thin some .22LR ammo I can save you some money by dropping off 1/3 of what you have here at my place

Revolver maybe?

I picked up a Ruger Wrangler a while back - it's a great little shooter - can be found for around $175 +/-

I've also had a S&W 617 (6") for years. Very smooth shooting gun. feels the same as my 686.

High end: S&W 41
Medium-high end: Sig/Hammerli Trailside/Xesse
Medium price: S&W 63, older 4" version, or mod 617
Low-medium: S&W SW22 Victory w/threaded barrel, or Ruger 22/45 Lite threaded, or Browning Buckmark.
Low price: GSG 1911

Older S&W 22A are butt-ugly, but actually shoot quite well.

If you like to gamble, try a Norinco TT Olympia target pistol. Great triggers, but accuracy varies.

If you want something small, look at the Ruger SR22. They function pretty well, but not as tolerant of being dirty as compared to the Mk's.

I've got an old Ruger Single Six that's a joy to shoot.

But lately, I've been shooting a Heritage Rough Rider.

I have the M&P 22c and can attest tk it being a flawless pistol. 500 rds of all sorts of ammo and no hiccups. Fun to shoot and perfect sized for youngers & women. I put a simple green laser from Lasermax on it and can shoot cans, golf balls, turtles all day long.

Have a Glock 44 and a Ruger Single Six. Like them both.

Kel Tec CP33. 33 round mag. Ridiculous sight radius. Nice trigger. Laser beam accurate. Threaded barrel. Can mount a brace to it. Did I mention 33 round mags? Oh, and extensions are coming that will increase that to 50.

I have a 22/45 and it can be picky on ammo and is a motherf#@!%$# to breakdown and clean. With federal ammo, it is fun to shoot.

Been eyeing a M&P 22 Full size or Compact as I see good reports on them.

I have one. It's a blast to shoot. It's eaten everything I've put through it.

Shot an armadillo off my porch a few nights ago.

I have a Browning 1911 .22 that is a fun gun. Haven't cleaned it yet (probably 500 rounds through it), so can't comment on cleaning.

Supressed S&W Victory w/Tandemkross trigger, hammer, grips and Burris FastFire 3 is probably my most fun gun to shoot.

+2, single six w/ 6" bbl + 22wmr cylinder. Mine has adjustable rear sight and is all kinda accurate. Great fun.

If you actually owned one of these you would know that the Tec-22 would jam 25 times during that 100 round drum lol
And if you actually own one and it DOESN'T jam.... please let me know how the hell I can fix mine! lol

The full size is a little temperamental. It likes to be clean and well oiled.

Me favorite 22 pistol is a hybrid MK III with a 22/45 barrel, Fastfire 3 and Tandemkross comp and Volquartsen trigger

I love my Buckmark, but I would get a revolver if you already have a Mk IV.

I have one, and yes it jammed a lot with the factory mag. Installed a Volquartsen extractor & started running Ruger 10/22 mags & it only jammed once. Put a suppressor on it now & it hasn't jammed since. Followed this dudes instruction: https://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/threads/turning-a-tec-22-tec-scorpion-into-a-reliable-shooter.84891/

Picking a favorite 22 pistol is like picking a favorite child.

But I think it's my *dedicated* 7" barreled AR w/ a brace that I built just to run my CMMG bolt conversion. Of course I could shoot 5.56 thru it but I like hearing things.
