Recently, I went to visit my mother to help her tie up some loose ends as she is considering a move closer to my family. She has cleaned out quite a bit of her possessions over the years and is down to a pretty minimalist lifestyle. She asked if I would take the remainder of my father's firearms and keep them in my safe until my siblings and I could make a decision on splitting them up between us. My father passed away a few decades ago when I was a teenager and we did a small split then, as well. I cherish the Winchester Model 94 I ended up with back then.
Recently, we were able to act like adults and divide the firearms between four siblings. I was hoping to end up with the M1 carbine but that's fine as happy that my sister and nephew will enjoy that rifle for years to come. I was fortunate enough to be able to make a permanent place in my safe for a Remington Rand M1911A1. Serial number dates back to 1944 and I assume it was probably refinished somewhere along the way as condition is nice for a pistol that has been in the attic of a west Texas house for the past 25 years. Very fortunate to be able to pass this down to my son someday. Yeah it wears the idiot scratch but that's fine.
While I'm here I thought I'd post a couple of pics of two 1911's I picked up earlier this year. Nighthawk Custom Heinie and Ed Brown Executive Carry. Both in .45 acp. I've been out of the 1911 game for a couple of years by the Remington Rand pulled me back in real quick. I've been sensible with my ammo purchases over the past 12 years so I'm ready to kill some targets with these pistols soon.
