Yeah, I can now say I hit an SUV with a chicken house.

I just built a 4x4x7 foot tall chicken house and I built it like a brick ****house. It was pretty heavy moving it on a little dolly leaning over on my shoulder and I hit a soft spot with the wheel just as I was passing the expedition, and in slow motion it spun off my shoulder and the dolly and there was nothing I could grab to stop it.

Chicken house had a tiny bend in the edge of the tin roofing.

Expedition was fortunately just grazed on the plastic wheel well guard and the right edge of the drivers side bumper. Some good scuffs through the paint, but never hit steel fortunately because the dolly allowed it to sort of kick out and the tire was turned that way some and kicked it out more.

Guess I get to buff and touch up some time soon with all this spare covid-19 time.

Never though I'd get to say I crashed into a car while driving a chicken house.

Can this at least be blamed partially on alcohol? Pleas tell us you were a couple drinks in when it happened.

If you're moving a chicken house with a dolly you didn't build a chicken house

This just proves you can never say "I've seen it all". Damn

Gotta start small. I don't have the need for a half dozen or dozen eggs a day. 3-4 is plenty.

Wouldn't be the first Aggie to have an incident involving a chicken ranch.

Just giving you a hard time. When I saw "hit an SUV with a chicken house" i immediately assumed a 1,200 sq ft house falling off a semi.

Got a little story for ya Ags...

Back in the summer of 2012 I built my first chicken house which was supposed to be built entirely from scrap. My wife's only input was, "make it look nice." So, I added about $200 worth of cedar trim and decorative hardware to dress up a 4'x6' chicken house.

Fast forward to the winter. I had four feet of snow on my roof, which caused an ice dam. Same four feet of snow on my barn caused a barn collapse. Coldest winter I had experienced in MI until that point. During a bitter snow day the kids and I added shavings to the chicken house and and adjusted the the heat lamp. Trying to keep the girls cozy...

That night I couldn't sleep. Finally dozed off after midnight. About 1 am I awake to a glow coming through my bedroom window. Somehow I instantly knew my henhouse was on fire. I ran downstairs to the walkout basement in my longjohns. Step into my hunting boots and grab two kitchen/home sized fire extinguishers. Thermometer reads -20.

Two entire fire extinguishers only pissed off that little wooden box fire. Once it hit the shingled roof, it started getting hot and smoky. I run to my back door and find my wife and kids in full snow gear. She was convinced the fire would jump to the house and require evacuation. She called the fire department and stated that a chicken house was on fire.

I went back outside and started throwing snow on the fire which helped, but I couldn't feel my hands anymore, no gloves. I remembered a snow shovel by the house and nearly had the fire out when I realized one hen had escaped the inferno. I felt bad for the lone survivor and was trying to figure out how to rescue her amid the cedar and shingle smoke when I heard a voice behind me say, "I really don't wanna drag you outta cause of smoke inhalation."

I nearly shat my longjohns at that point before realizing that the advance FD guy had tracked 50 yds thru knee deep snow to scare me. I stopped to catch my breath after 10 crazy minutes as the first fire truck pulled up. I hear the first guy saying, "cancel Hopkins, cancel Monterrey, cancel Wayland, cancel xyz..."

They thought we were a commercial chicken house.

So I ask one of the full gear firemen to go grab my one hen before dousing the hot spots, which one agrees to do. After dousing they are tearing apart my hen house looking for hot spots. At some point, through a respirator, I hear, " There's a live one!! I got one too! The rooster's mad!!@&$@!!!"

So the bird brain chickens weren't even using the heat lamp tha caused the fire, they were huddled under the chicke house and every damn one survived. They lived out the winter in "FEMA" housing below my deck.
