For those of you who have tried both, which one is truly worth the wait in line?

Beginning to get a wild hair that I haven't had either and I need to change it after this virus crap is over.

IMO, Franklin's wait is a lot of fun if you go into like you're tailgating. Show up early with a cooler and beer, lawn chairs, dominoes, enjoy yourself. The BBQ is phenomenal.

Snow's, call in your order ahead of time and just pick up. It's also good.

I agree. Tailgate Franklins. Had a blast. Get there early enough for shade.

Also Franklin uses USDA Prime Briskets and Snows uses USDA Select grade briskets.

Been to both. Snow's had free booze while waiting in line but Franklin's BBQ is so much better.

Was at Snows last Saturday. In line at 8:30. Breakfast brisket, pork shoulder and ribs were served before 9:00. Can't beat that.

Atmosphere more fun at Franklin. Food wise they are both amazing and so close. Pork Steak at Snows takes them over the top for me.

Select? Not choice? You sure about that?

Yea they mainly do more Select grade but do get some Choice. I've asked from going and also it was in Texas Monthly

I've never waited more that 30 minutes at snows but I go in the morning and haven't been in a few months. Snows is my favorite.

Lots of good discussion over on the Texas monthly top 50 bbq thread on the food and spirits board if you are ever looking for more bbq info.

Having been to both multiple times, Franklin is definitely better. As said above, Snows still uses lower quality briskets and while theirs are really good and deserve a lot of praise, Franklin is just on another level. Better brisket and ribs, kind of a tie on stuff like sausage, turkey, etc. and snows does have a really good pork steak but thats about it that they have over Franklin.

And while it's kind of cool that Snows has the tradition of being only open on Saturdays, Franklin definitely gets bonus points for cranking out fantastic bbq 6 days a week vs them only doing it one day a week. Both are fun experiences if you tailgate while in line at Franklins, or get a tour of Snows pits and pic with Miss Tootsie.

I had Snows at the TM BBQ fest, thought it was the best brisket I've ever had.

Friend and I went in November, meat was very tender, but had no bark and little flavor.

Franklin's has been great every time.

I have not tried snows. Had fun tailgating at Franklin but I would take Blacks over Franklins any day. No wait and the BBQ is great.

Yes. I'm sure. But they prove you can turn out a good brisket on Select.

Oh, and I only wait as long as I want to give my order to Rissa and Ally out in the cook shed...

To answer the original question: Both are worth the wait.

Franklin still has the best brisket I've ever had. That's why their lines are the longest.

Thanks for clarification. I never knew. I love the vibe of Snows but to be honest, I've never been enamored with their food like I have other spots. The brisket was fine, just not on another level like some other places. This may explain why. I'm picky though. Like i said, I like the place, respect the hell out of it, and will gladly eat there. It's just not my favorite. Just my 2 cents.

I'd recommend going to Franklin's on a Saturday so you can get the beef ribs. I enjoyed that more than the brisket, which was also the best I've had.

I definitely like Franklin's and Snows is good as well but if I'm eating BBQ in Austin, I'm going to LA BBQ. There's no long waits like at Franklin's. To me the brisket, sausage and beef ribs are better and it's classic Mueller BBQ done right.

We did Snow's and Brett's this morning... Had the Pork Steak and Jalapeno Sausage... Had the Brisket, Venison Sausage and Bourbon Pork Belly Burnt Ends at Brett's, along with the Loaded Potato Salad and Hash Brown Casserole.

Both great. Franklins brisket is the best I've ever had. Snows pork steak is awesome. If you like bbq, you gotta try both.
