Howdy y'all. Was trying out some new loads today with my AR10 and had several Identical failure to feeds like the one pictured. Just got my can in January and hadn't had any issues shooting 165 gr loads.

Well today I went to test some Sierra 150 gr game kings and got these failures. Do I need to get a heavy buffer? Is this an overgassed issue?

I THINK that is a gas issue. You're not getting enough relay gas for the bolt to go all the way back so you're short stroking

Welcome to suppressed AR10s. I would highly suggest an adjustable gas block and to stick with the same ammo. Changing loads greatly affects how mine cycles. I finally settled with Hornady Custom Lites as the round that cycles the best for me.

Is that your picture or just a representative picture of the problem?

When's the last time the rifle was cleaned, and how does your extractor look?

My rifle. Had just cleaned it and went to test 25 reloads today. I took the extractor apart when I cleaned it this weekend and got it real clean. The rifle was performing flawlessly before cleaning with the 165 loads.

The only thing I can think off is that I loaded these pretty hot (up to 44.5 gr of IMR 4064) and that could be over gassing?

I feel your pain. I'm still working to get my 308 build to run flawlessly. And I have a heavy buffer and adjustable gas block.

Barrel length and gas system length?

I never realized how clean I kept my personal firearms until texags

Where is your brass falling?

Looks to me like it's stuck in the ejection port, but I don't see that in your chart...

That, and a failure to feed doesn't result in a stovepipe. That's a failure to eject.

so is this a gas issue? or a cleaning / lube issue where theres too much friction and the buffer isnt getting compressed enough to allow for a full stroke? i was having the same trouble with my ar10.

just to reiterate, the rifle was cleaned prior to shooting.

also, when they eject, they eject around 1:30 on the clock diagram. So im assuming I need to get a heavy buffer?

that gun was spotless before shooting. Shoot 5 rounds with a can and let me know what it looks like after.

I had to use an adjustable gas block and a JO enterprises silent capture spring with the heavy spring to get my 6.5 creedmoor to run properly. I know I hate to throw parts at a problem but that gave me a lot of combinations to try.

Most likely a gas or buffer weight/travel issue.

I just like to rule out the obvious and easy first.

OP, when you pull the bolt to the rear manually, how far back does it go?

That's the most useful thing you have to post in this thread?

CleanIng is always a good first step to correct issues If you're having them, but people who can't go 2 range trips without cleaning crack me up.

What does your primer look like? Hot reloads start to cause all kinds of problems with semi autos. Add a suppressor and you're so over gassed, extraction and ejection are violent and unpredictable

Now that you have the can, are you going to run that rifle suppressed 100% of the time?

Do you have this issue when shooting other ammo suppressed in that rifle?

Did you have the same problem shooting factory ammo ?
