Recommend an edger?

Does anyone have an edger recommendation? I have a Kobalt 80V battery that I use for my leaf blower. They make an edger attachment but it, like most of the battery operated ones, has horrible reviews. I've also got a Husqvarna gas trimmer, but again the edger attachment reviews aren't good.

I can get by using the trimmer as an edger but I'd like something better. TIA

I use my trimmer, faster and I can angle it easier than trying to angle an edger attachment. Plus the last edger attachment I had implemented a curved shaft, and it was exactly the wrong length for me and required me to halfway bend over, which kinda sucked.

I've got the white Stihl with the interchangeable edger/weedeater attachments. Works great.

I edged with the trimmer for years. Wish I had gotten a real edger sooner. About 200-300' of edging for me.

Edited to add: It's the Kombi system mentioned in the post below.

I have the stihl kombi system. When I bought it, it came with the blower attachment and string trimmer attachment. The edger attachment was the next thing I bought. It cut my edging time in half and to me it looks better than when I did it with the string trimmer. The edger attachment isn't something you have to have, but it sure makes my life easier. Edging was my least favorite thing to do. If you go with a gas powered edger then get a strait shaft.

Straight forward, gas powered Echo stick edger. Think saves my bacon on a corner lot.

I use the echo PAS system with an edger, blower, trimmer and hedge trimmer. It's a beast, so I imagine their standalone edger is really good too. Stihl is also a great bet.

How big a yard?

I used to just flip my Echo trimmer over. Grabbed a Black and Decker edgehog for 10 bucks at a neighbor's garage sale last year. That thing works freaking great for my small lot. I bought a 100 foot extension cord for it. Cord is kind of a pain, but it does a great job edging.

I had a POS that I bought cheap many years ago and it finally blew up last summer. Decided to get a nicer one - pricey, but nice.

Plus 1 for Stihl. Bought several others that lasted 2-3 seasons and once I finally bought into Stihl, yada yada not looking back something or other. Seriously, get Stihl. RC-56 in both the trimmer and edger. EOT.

I like this thread much more than the one asking for electric recommendations.

I was wearing out roughly one edger per year (various cheapos from Home Depot). I went to a Stihl with the Kombisystem (I have the edger, weedeater (2 actually - one with string and one with a Forester brush cutter blade), pole pruner, blower, and tiller/sweeper) in 2012 and it has run like a champ since then ...and I have worked the hell out of it. Very well made and utterly reliable. The purchase price was high but the payout was pretty quick when you consider its service life vs the junk I used previously.

I appreciate all the comments. I think I'm going to order this

https://www.amazon.com/Poulan-PP1000E-7-Inch-Edger-Attachment/dp/B000E199HA/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=pp1000e&qid=1581086406&sr=8-1

and give it a shot. I have the Husqvarna 128LD, which is the big box store model that as far as I can tell only takes third party attachments. If anyone knows of a better attachment that will fit a 128 LD I'm all ears. Thanks!

One of the posters here (can't remember which one, I've been asleep since then) had a post in the classifieds he cross posted here. Had a dedicated B&D edger for $150 in it.

The Stihl Kombi system is awesome. I started with the string trimmer and edger and accumulated the pole chainsaw, hedge clipper and rototiller over time. I'd recommend going with the professional level power head if you plan on adding attachments (especially the rototiller).

I'll be that guy, then. The EGO edger is an awesome product. Reviews are fantastic across the board and as long as you can remember to keep the battery charged, there's no significant maintenance.
