Price range per scope or total budget might help

There was an earlier thread about vortex and leupold base models starting at $200 that people seemed to like.

.22: Nikon makes a great rimfire scope for about $100 you can get on Amazon.

.223: Primary Arms: either get one of their fixed 3x scopes or the 1-6x with the ACSS reticle. $200-$300. If you go to their showroom, a lot of times they will have blemished models for a discount.

Saiga: either a Sig Romeo5 or Primary Arms micro dot. $120.

Others can probably give you better recs on the RPR than I can, so I'll leave that one alone.

I am putting together a RPK and what I intend to do is put a Trijicon MRO mounted on an Attero Arms MRO Mount.

The Attero arms mount replaces the rear leaf sight with what appears to be a pretty solid mounting option. I have tried it yet though.

I had bought a side mounted rail riser common for the AK but in the end I felt it looked a little goofy.

Wait for a holiday or find a used SWFA SS 3-15 for the RPR. Retail is 699.

Athlon, Riton, Rudolph and vortex would be good places to look for the RPR as well

Clearance rack at Natchez I have two Burris MTAC's, they are great for AR's. The TAC 30 is the prior model. They both have good clarity and near true 1:1 on the low end. Also Burris lifetime warranty. I prefer the optics on these scopes to the Vortex es StrikeEagle and PA 1-6 all four come with essentially the same reticle.

Good advice here. $500 is tough for a RPR. But run over to snipers hide and start searching. Tons of good info. Don't know if you can get a Athlon Midas TAC for $500 but start there.

Eyeguy (poster here; owns gun store; envy of all) sells Riton and Rudolph. Give him a call.

Don't be afraid to get one of the refurbed Nikons out there. They are awesome for the money.

What range are we talking about? I don't know whether to give you red dot or magnified opinions.

Does your Saiga have the side mount for optics? I'd be considering a mount that would allow you to swap optics between the AR and AK to up the budget for one slightly better optic than one for each gun.
