Just noticed this morning my 6 yr old JRT snapped his canine off! It doesn't seem to be bothering him? Eating and playing just fine. Is this worth getting looked at or is he good to go? Not sure why photo's won't imbed.

I think parents dog had a similar issue. It went a few years untreated until they pulled it recently. The root on that sucker was almost twice as long as the normal exposed k9. It did need to get pulled because it was becoming infected and was going to lead to decay of the jaw bone which is bad news.

Looks like the pulp is exposed, so the tooth is toast unless you want to have a root canal and crown. It is a source of pain even though the dog won't show much (especially a jrt). The tooth will eventually abscess. I'd take it out unless anesthesia is contraindicated.

Get titanium implants like the service dogs. Jack Russell with titanium canines would be ferocious.

I'm sure the squirrels would shake at the sight of those lol. Those are great for working dogs. You're everyday dog won't miss that tooth much. The dog will be glad when it's gone. It hurts. Have it pulled and then you don't have to worry about anything else (aside from the usual jack russell shenanigans. Mine lived to be 19 and should have been dead at least five or six times. Awesome dogs.)

If he/she is anything Like my old JRT, Roscoe, he probably broke his tooth on another dog's ass.
