We took in a pit bull stray a couple of years ago. Super sweet dog. Lots of fun. It's been struggling for a couple of months and today we found out it has pancreatic cancer. Vet says no hope. We will probably put it down Friday. This is a hail Mary. Can anybody suggest an alternate path?

If it's been symptomatic for a couple of months, I'm guessing the answer is no. I'm so very sorry. That said, a second opinion from a speciality vet hospital or A&M, is never a bad idea.

Sorry to hear that. Dog metabolism is high and cancer diagnoses are often not practically treatable. Look towards quality of life is probably the best thing to do.

Soda - sorry to hear about this. If you don't mind me asking, what type of symptoms is your dog showing? How was the diagnosis made? - that's a difficult tumor to diagnose in dogs is why I'm asking. You could ask your DVM to consult with the Onco group at A&M by phone, or come up for a workup/consult.

Canine dewormer supposedly stops cancer in dogs and people.

Or google Joe Tippens for his story. He names doctors at MD Anderson.
