A buddy drew this tag. Anyone out there with any knowledge of this area that you are willing to share?

It's big, rough country. Lots of glassing will be required.

I deer hunted 30 3 years ago... BLM near White's City, off dark canyon road. Never saw any sheep but wasn't looking for them either.

The fact that a guy from colo applies for an archery dad tag in SE NM kinda baffles me. The grass is always greener I guess... Well, not in the desert in Jan.

At any rate, gohunt says that 29 is one of the better units for sheep in the state. It also says that you're less likely to see sheep than deer or antelope.

I'd plan a mobile hunt with lots of glassing from high peaks into the rough and broken stuff. By mobile, I mean being prepared to drive to different areas

You can find a few sheep in artesia, some in the area just west of brantley, some in the Rim SW of Carlsbad. They like to eat cholla cactus fruits, so any place with a lot of cholla cactus should scout.

Last one we killed two years ago in Unit 30 was North of Queen by sitting bull falls area. Just north of sitting bull falls in between sitting bull falls and sitting bull canyon. 409 is the road up in that area. I scout all that area up that way. Some good muley's too.
