This PSA just came out regarding a lion spotting (spotted three times around 10 miles apart) near Fredericksburg. One at the golf course. Pretty cool if true.

Not true. Not a single mountain lion spotting EVER reported in Texas has actually been a mountain lion. Most likely a ringtail cat.

If one spots the puma, why should he/she call anyone?

Interesting... I was planning on taking my dog out to the dog park at Lady Bird this evening and making a few casts down at the lake afterward. I'll report back.

Do you have any lynx you could post? Where is this being reported?

Looks extremely official. Especially since it references Washington.

Just a house cat. Nothing to see here.

TPWD asks you notify them via phone if the lion was spotted in a park or other public area.

Otherwise they ask all verifiable encounters to be submitted via a written report.

I do not understand the Texan infatuation with mountain lion sightings.

Da fuq guys. Yes, they live here.

Legit concerns if near human habitations. Figure out potential range expansion.

We have lions near human habitation all the time. Cut a kitten track about 300 yards from the house yesterday. Locked the chickens up. Let the kids run free.

We inherited a place between Fredericksburg and kerrvillle, 17 miles down Tivydale road. There's some older families out there that swear a mountain lion is seen on occasion.

I've never seen it, but I'm only there every other weekend or so. I've set up cameras hoping to see something , nothing yet.

A Buffalo did get loose from somewhere that had to be killed last year on the neighboring property

That is an incredibly high quality pic from a game cam.

We have a place near cherry springs. About 20 years ago I was sitting in a bow blind with a few doe in front of me. All of a sudden doe throw their head up look behind and take off. About a 150lb cat walks about 80 yards in front of me. Cool thing to see. Over the years we have found deer covered up with tracks.

My neighborhood had one about 13 years ago. I never saw it but 3 different neighbor households saw it. It played out in a field for a long time in front of one neighbor. And the neighbor next to him came home to find it eating out of their pets bowl.

Yeah, I am still interested when someone actually sees one...... just for my own awareness I guess.

BTW..... there has been no mountain lion sightings here that I know of since then.

B/c they're cool and most people never get to see them?

Very true, but you're not quite in town. Keep in mind, the hippies in Boulder said the same thing. ;-)

Other big difference, Colorado has a decent feel for their lion population, Texas does not

I wonder which place is yours down Tivydale... My buddies and I used to road trip that road (among others) quite often in High School. My folks moved onto a place on Old Harper Rd. a few years ago.

If you know where the old pump house is, we are about a mile down the road from that.

We showed the Lion King to the children in church in Lundazi. It was interesting seeing how different their reactions were compared to kids in the US.

I'm going to guess they didn't think it was just a furry, friendly cat.
