I've got a standard paddle kayak I've been using for a few years and am looking to upgrade to a pedal kayak. Looking at the Hobie Compass and Old Town Topwater 120 PDL. Anyone have any experiences with either of those or any other suggestions?

Jackson Coosa FD usually gets positive reviews from Saltwater Anglers. It's highly rated for comfortable peddling position, good speed, & shallow performance.

Is your application going to be bay fishing or BTB?

Make sure you know what the draft of the peddles are, and that you're not limiting yourself.

Great suggestion. I had a PA14 but fish mostly inshore and couldn't use the fins most of the time. They might be great most of the time but without fins it's just a PIA to paddle. I ended up getting a Jackson Kraken, followed closely by a skiff

I'm going through the same process as you at the moment....I'm leaning towards a native slayer 10. I really like 60lbs for car topping.

Right now I'm running a Malibu mini-x which is great for beyond the breakers and bay and river fishing. Good for taking crappie too. Probably will be putting it up for sale soon. Relatively cheap.

I'll be interested in what others recommend as far as durability of drives between the brands.
