I'm hopeful The Outdoor Board can please help me out. I would like to have two knives refurbished (blade & handle) and sharpened. I'm talking rust removal, new sheaths, handles repaired/cleaned or replaced, etc. The two knives belonged to my late Grandfather and I'd like to start using them. Both are straight knives; one is his KaBar from WWII and the other an approx. 8" (tip of blade to end of handle) hunting/skinning knife w/ an antler handle. I understand handle work can be expensive. I'm not overly concerned about cost or time as there is sentimental value . Any consideration or suggestions received are appreciated. Thank you.

FYI. I've spoken to Cutlery Collection (Willowbend Mall) and they told me to bring them in to could see what they can do; however, they do not have a handle person on staff. Also, I don't have the time to tackle this mini-project myself.

Random thought but the annual Dallas Collectors Gun and Knife show is coming up at the end of November. There are several dozen knife makers there, most of them local (TX/Ok/La etc). You might be able to find a knife maker to do a refurb for you.

I don't do FB but there's a Tx knifemakers group you could investigate.

I don't know about the knife refurb, but I had a custom sheath made by an OB poster who is in Dallas. He did a great job. Would definitely recommend him for the leather work.

Can you post his info?

I have not used them, but have heard good things about Redneck Knife Works in Flint. Not too far from Dallas, but may be worth a call.
