If anyone knows where I can get the cocking rod and spring for the right side of a Ruger Red Label I'd sure appreciate some help. Ruger is no longer making parts and the gunsmith I took it to had it for almost a year without any luck.

My biggest fear of owning a red label is having to replace parts.

I had also heard that even though Ruger isn't making and selling the parts, they will usually take repairs in house.

Used market is your best bet unless you find a shop with a pack rat like me who saves all sorts of parts. Everytime another smith closes up shop, I try to buy all their parts. Never know when they may come in handy...

Outside that, you can have someone make both parts but that isn't inexpensive.

Any idea if a 20 ga and 12 ga are interchangeable?

From what I am seeing, yes 12 & 20 use same part. However, there are different parts depending upon serial prefix. Numerich shows they have some for the later models.

I have a 12 ga Red Label in synthetic stock and stainless. Because of that plastic stock the balance is not very good. I've always thought I'd sell it someday. Just saying....if you can't find parts, make me an offer.
