Found this bad boy in our bedroom yesterday. Nasty looking fellow. Should we be concerned?

We live in the hill country.

Time to burn it all down. Sorry for your loss.

When I was a kid and we first moved into our house in the Hill Country I'd find a few scorpions a day inside and was never bothered. It wasn't until I found one of those red headed centipedes in my bedsheets that I had a fear of any bug. I got a piece of cardboard to slide under it and toss it in the toilet. I still remember the sounds of its legs scratching against the cardboard as I tried to keep it from sliding off. Thoroughly checked my sheets every night after that.

After a few months I'd see fewer and fewer scorpions until it was a rarity. If I found a little one I'd put it in a cup on my dresser and feed it other bugs. Every week our cleaning lady would throw it away even after I put up "No Basura" signs. Only saw one other red headed centipede inside but it was in the storage room so no big deal.

Hate them. Have seen two on my porch in Bandera Co this year.

One in the sheets and I might move

Have you had any issues with kissing bugs in Bandera County this year? My parents have found 3 or 4 around the house in the last couple of months. My dad sprayed around the house and found about 10 "baby" kissing bugs.

Nope but I sprayed the entire slab perimeter, all door / window sills in May. Going to do it again soon.

I find them in my pool all the time but pretty much never inside. Sleep inside and no issues.

I sprayed a week ago but I'm doing it again on account of that pic. I think I sprayed last time because of the brown recluse in bed thread.

Sometimes I really hate you guys on this board.

You should google it. There are some videos of one eating a mouse that will be nightmare fuel for the rest of your life.

Anyone been stung/bit by one? How bad is it?

Their bite is rumored to be very painful, but they are great for spider and scorpion control. They love to eat both. I have never been bitten by one, but they lived on our front porch when I used to live in New Braunfels. Haven't seen any at the new house yet.

Personally, I love them. They are awesome looking and pretty easy to avoid due to the fact that they are so large and run for cover as soon as they see people.
