How long do you want to ignore this user?
The boat thread got me looking at micro skiffs again...then I came upon this:
https://www.soloskiff.com/

Anyone seen one before? Any opinions? Thanks.

I've never seen this before but it looks amazing.

  • It is not crazy expensive relative to a nice paddle kayak
  • It looks like it could be easily stored in a garage vs a storage facility
  • You don't need a trailer which is nice

Was actually looking at these earlier today, trying to convince myself to finish a few other projects first.

Seen before. They are pretty cool. Large SOT square stern heavy rotomold like a kayak. Won't really plane most likely but will cut through the water really well. Would be heavier and more stable than a paddle board.

Pretty sweet solo rig. I like it.

How much are they?

$1849 here

And I've got a 5hp Mercury at my dads that probably needs new plugs and a carb cleaning and I'd be chasing back bays and skinny water in no time...

I talked to a guy dragging one down Matagorda beach one day. He seemed pretty happy with his. The build quality looked nice.

Used ones have started popping up in TX more often lately. Keep an eye on Craigslist.

Treat it like a kayak with more range / speed, and don't expect it to be a real boat. If you have realistic expectations and a reasonable usage plan they definitely fill a shallow water niche.

Must be registered is really the only downside I see.

Solo Skiffs been around in Rockport for years. Know several that own/use them. They, like all watercraft, work well in specific situations. One has to really be aware of the weather, especially in a craft this small. They do work. People do fish them. They are TINY!! My wife would NEVER let me have or use one!!
