How long do you want to ignore this user?
After last year's hunt, I realized I want to upgrade my sling and pack. I liked having a small pack and the sling is comfortable but I would like a sling that slips less and a pack that carries my rifle without being large.

Looking for recommendations.

TIA

Edit-I guess my OP wasn't clear. I am asking about gear for hunting in the mountains of Colorado.

Would you consider a chest harness/kit?

Check out Hill People Gear. Love their stuff, have several pieces and always want more. I'd take a look at their traditional kit chest harness if you want a lot of storage room, and the runners kit bag if you want something more low profile. I have the snubby kit, but it's very small and serves a very specific purpose.

Here's the traditional:

Careful, you'll get lost (in a good way) on their website between the gear and remote camping/survival programs. Great company, great people.

I have the 5.11 Rush MOAB 10 and would recommend it. It's built like a tank and holds a lot or a little very well.

I actually don't care for the tactical look but it is a great day pack

I have the 5.11 Rush Moab 10 as a "daily" carry for family events to a lot of stuff. I can carry a lot or a little like the previous poster. Velcro "secret" pocket for CCW carry. Add the Maxpedition Velcro holder and it will holster your CCW weapon and an extra mag for quick acquisition.

Wife bought me the Rush 6 for my blind bag in the future. No need for a lot of the crap I have to carry to baseball games and family stuff. But still has the CCW pocket. Hopefully, the plan in the son is hunting by himself this year and can carry his own crap.

Edit: further comment relocated to the "back in the old days" thread, so as not to derail a good question by the OP.

HPG is based in Colorado. Check out their website and their packs. They make a set up specifically for carrying a rifle on your pack.

Get a Kifaru gun bearer. They have a universal adapter so you can use them on any backpack. I used one the last couple years on my Stone Glacier pack at Meredith. My buddy used one on his $60 Redhead pack from Cabelas. They're tremendously comfy and handy. Very easy to give a sharp tug to release the cam lock and have your rifle at the ready.
