I think it's been asked before but wasn't sure if anything had changed. Is there a minimum amount of acres needed to legally hunt deer, hogs and varmits in Texas?

I'd say enough that a missed shot doesn't travel on to someone elses property. I don't know of a quantity of land as part of any law regarding hunting. Some local laws may be in place that require shooting taking place a certain distance away from homes.

I believe counties can regulate firearms in subdivisions under a certain acreage. I think 10 acres. Otherwise, I think the "doesn't cross the property line applies."

Thank you for your inquiry. The requisite acreage is 2,000.

Signed, everyone who didn't write a check for their land

Aggiedent is correct. So even if you have less than 10 but are in the middle of nowhere, you can hunt legally. But if it is a residential area and you have less than 10, check the county laws. And of course, ensuring the shot is safe and will remain within your property.

The fewer the acres the higher the deer stand to make sure it doesn't leave your property.

How about bow season?

I saw a Bordain cooking/travel show filmed in New Zealand once in which the locals went after wild boar with a knife and got one.

I own 6.5 acres, as does my neighbor.
We lease each other's property for $1 per year.

Thus our "hunting acreage" is 13 acres. #Win
