How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm loading up the family (wife, 17 yo son, 14 yo son) and some fellow TexAgers, and we're headed to Neal's in couple of weeks.

We're staying at the Cattleman cabin.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Neal's first timer?

As always... I look forward to the serious and not so serious advice of the OB!

Thank you

Neal's Dining Room is across SH 127 and is not owned or managed by the current owners of Neal's Lodge.
Joe Jimmy's is the bar next to the store and is a pretty cool and generally family friendly place to hang in the evenings if you so desire.
If you just want to get in the water, the swimming hole by the store on SH 127 is pretty good.

There is no retail alcohol sales in Concan, Repeat, THERE ARE NO RETAIL ALCOHOL SALES IN CONCAN!!! Any beer, wine or liquor that you want for a cooler or at the cabin must be brought in by you. The nearest beer/wine is going to be 20 miles to either Sabinal, Leakey or Uvalde. I don't think Sabinal has a liquor store, Leakey does I think and I know Uvalde does.

Neal's is Aggie owned and operated. Have a good time. Don't forget the sunscreen and don't forget the adult beverages.

Closest liquor stores are in Uvalde or Sabinal (the famous Liquor/Guns), there is also a liquor store in Hondo. Last stop for beer is going to be Hondo or Sabinal. Last HEB/WalMart is in Hondo. I don't really have any suggestions except that if you want a less crowded float you can do the one a little further north of Conan with Happy Hollow on Highway 83. Also, House Pasture has big name Texas Country artists on weekends all summer.

We usually have lunch at neal dining room then hit the river. Good food.

We usually use andys on the river as the float outfitter. We use to bring our own tubes but its only about $5 difference to use their tube and shuttle vs just their shuttle.

Water is great right now so enjoy.

Be careful jumping off of the talll rock in the river near the slide. Water should be high enough that you don't have to worry about the shallower rocks just to the left of the deep spot.

I always stop at the liquor store in Hondo, House Pasture is a good place to hang out in the evenings as well. Usually has good music, family friendly and fun.

Horseback riding is a good ride, especially if you have kids - it's on 83 between Concan and Leaky - Elm Creek Stables. We also rode in the helicopter that hangs out by House Pasture, my girls absolutely ate it up and it was a fun little ride. Holt Helicopters, you can find them on facebook if you want. Good guy.

Get the chicken fried steak at the restaurant. Sing my praises later.

The restaurant across the street is pretty good with nice views.

Beer/wine can definitely be bought in Leakey 20 minutes away if you run out.

There is a pretty cool little ice cream/dessert shop not far down the road.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.
