My freezer is empty (didn't hunt anything other than waterfowl this year) and I would like to go on a cow elk and Axis Doe Hunt simply to put some wild game in the freezer. I reached out to several ranches from googling but have not heard back. Does anybody have any recommendations?

If you bow hunt, Diamond C is a great option. They have tons of exotics and it's almost impossible to go home without a shot at something for meat. They have a pretty nice lodge/barndo to stay in too.
Elk cows right now are hard bred. My neighbor has Elk but he does not shoot cows right now as they will calve in about 6 weeks or so.

Nilgai cows are inexpensive. I just don't know of any place that will just let you day hunt cows without having to purchase a more expensive bull hunt as well.

Was coming to post this. I doubt anyone is selling cow elk hunts right now unless they just absolutely want to get rid of the herd and were unsuccessful during the fall.

If you can get a cow elk hunt this time of year it's like a 2 for 1 hunt unless it's pregnant with twins then it's 3 for 1. Like veal, but even more tender.
No thanks........did this once on our ranch.....never again. Cow was just a day or two from calving I guess and the fetus was still moving. Elk cows having twins is not real common. We dont shoot calves either....but to each their own I guess.

Like most places, cows are only listed as an add on hunt according to their website.
They had Red Deer last we checked. Are they in the Bandera/Medina mandatory CWD check?

Thanks all - sounds like I definitely don't want to hunt cow elk this time of year even if somebody let me. I'll try for an Axis Doe and hopefully will get an elk in the fall.
