My family and extended family own five Labradoodles from Dixie's Doodles. She used to live near Georgetown but now lives near Lockhart. She has Australian Labradoodles and is very careful about coat, hips, etc. They cost around $2500 but the purchase price of a dog is only a very small part of the lifelong costs.

We got ours from Nine Pines in Groveton. If I remember correctly they were aggies and very down to earth. Ours is 8 years old and is the best dog we've ever owned. She's great around the kids, and is really one of the sweetest dogs I've ever been around. We'll go back to them when we are ready for another puppy. I don't remember how much she was, but I don't remember her being astronomically expensive. I'm 100% sure she was under $1000. This is her in a full coat, and shaved.

What's the point of these things? Why not just get a regular lab? Is it so there's enough chick dog in it to appease wives?

I think the appeal is that they don't shed and if they do it's nothing like a lab but you still get the lab qualies af family dog and can even be trained for most things though it might be a little more work it's offset but the amount of time vacuuming up lab hair. Trust me I know I do it at least every other day and it's not near enough. Sometimes twice a day

Without a doubt.

I ended up with a labradoodle. It's one of the smartest dogs I've ever owned.....and it doesnt shed a hair.

I love labs. I just dont love their hair on everything.

Mark,

I breed a golden doodle once a year and have interest in a larger breeding program of golden doodles that is year round. I've sold about 10 of them on this site to many happy folks.

Send me a PM about what your are looking for, timetable etc. I'd be happy to help.

Lake Country Labradoodles is a longstanding breeding program located in NE Texas. All of the breeders are health tested and all puppies have health guarantees.
Their passion is providing service dogs and have donated many puppies to the Aggie Guide Dog service over the years. Check out their facebook page and see some of the newly born pups.
The only drawback is the owner is a Texas graduate but I have exerted my influence enough that she has converted and all three of our children are Aggie grads or in the process.

Reputable breeders will offer a health guarantee. Our goldendoodle came with a 2 year health guarantee. He'll be 6 in april and he's an awesome dog. We paid around $1400 for him at the time.

Your ignorance is showing. Do research on Labs and Poodles. Look at what each breed is best doing then combine that and you have a hell of a dog that doesn't shed all over your freaking house. They are smart, have drive and retrieve like a mutha.

Having had Golden retrievers for much of my life after losing my last two years ago I went the labradoodle route and am completely sold on the breed. They don't have the oils in their coats that make dogs grimy and the Australian Labradoodles don't shed at all. My advice would be seek out the Australian Labradoodle as it's been breed for many generations and really is the most reliable coat for not shedding. Mine weighs 40 lbs which is a size I love. Good luck, you will never go back if you just want a pet!

There is no such thing as a hypo-allegenic dog. If they have skin, poop , and pee they produce allergens.

We saw a "Saint Berdoodle" in New Mexico last year, and that was the cutest, biggest dog ever.
