Well my deer season is over this season, i got my last 2 does Saturday morning. I'm friends with a TPWD biologist and i give her the lymph nodes of the deer I shoot. Well, this was a first for me. I felt a little bulge around the top of the mouth and cut it open. these nasty things spilled out. the other doe had them as well.

I called her and she said they are bot flies and harmless. this was just a different experience for me but they look like they would make great fishing bait.

for anybody smarter than me how do these maggots turn in to flies and how do they get out

If you've ever really looked for them, you'll find them in most deer, in my experience. Almost every time I do a euro mount on my own I find them. If you're pulling the jaw and really want to look, a few more cuts and you can check.

When they're all connected around the esophagus/trachea and moving around it's pretty nasty.

Every deer I've ever done a European mount on has had them.

Most Important question. Did you eat them?

not yet, ohh you mean the worms....

I have killed around 60 deer in my life, and every single one has had these in the nasal passages. At least every one that I have ever dug into to find.

You should check out the amount of people on YouTube that have them.
