Have been thinking about the same.

I think if you went into it with the plan to use it for 3-5 years as a weekend getaway you'd probably be really happy with it. Long term probably not so much.

FYI... for folks with South Texas properties they're gearing up to sell the ones they're storing in Beeville as well.

I used a mobile home mover. They say you can move it with a 1 ton but I didn't want to do it in the hills around junction.

Anyone with experience know if the formaldehyde in these trailers really much of a concern?

Most look to be in good shape and perfect for a deer lease. We may go to Hearne tomorrow to check them out.

What you don't know is that all these trailers came available for sale cause the original inhabitants all died from formaldehyde poisoning... :|

When one says you can move "it" with a one ton, what size trailer are they referring to?

I own several of them... feed rooms, storage buildings, etc.... you could pretty easily pull one with a one ton, although they'd catch a lot of wind.

Biggest problem is getting them set and strapped down on some type of low boy trailer. They're heavy and awkward to move. I've generally had them delivered on a roll off trailer and set really close to final destination, using tractors to nudge them around a little as needed. If you aren't well equipped to handle them, loading and unloading would be a major PITA. YMMV.

The ones that got all the publicity with formaldehyde were the campers/RV's as I remember it. These appear to be single wide trailers.

As to why they dont keep them until the next hurricane. As with most things that sit unused, they deteriorate. No way to know when the next hurricane will hit Texas. Could be next year or five years.

So were these used or just sat there in Hearn the whole time?

If used, by the FEMA workers or by displaced people on the coast?
