It looks as if the motion sensor triggers an outside light in the driveway across the street. Would a house cat trigger the sensor from across the street? Might be legit.
Wouldn't be surprising. We saw one several times that hung out on the preserve when I worked there. Found one of its kills as well.
- looks awful small to me- especially the neck & head. Almost feel like you can see some stripes/spots, especially on the inside front right leg. Could be some distortion..
I'm no expert but it sure as hell looks like an aoudad... er, mountain lion to me. The tail is pretty damning and it's too big to be a house cat when compared to the car or bed around the tree.
zooguy - which preserve are you referring to? Balcones Canyonland? If so, that is pretty close to this subdivision.
It's my friends neighbor I got it this morning i doubted but it looks absolutely legit it's a newer neighborhood off of a bunch of big acreage tracts. I believe it's legit

Saw a young female upclose this past weekend at the Tiger Creek Sanctuary outside of Tyler. Looks pretty similar, especially the tail. I do think the one I saw though may have been crossed with a spider monkey though.

The eastern part of BCP is close to 2243. Just glancing at the map, it doesn't look like there's much development between BCP and this subdivision (but I'm not super familiar with that area).

Keep in mind the standard mulch circle for young trees is 5-6' wide. Can't tell crap about nearby objects with that wide angle lens.
That community is close to several large canyons (i.e. Bloody Hollow) near Grand Mesa west of Lakeline Blvd.. There have been reported sightings in the area over the years. That being said, I have lived on a ranch, near this location, my whole life and never seen one.
Wife mentioned this to me when I got home from work today. Told her I needed to check Texags first before I believe anything.
Am I getting this correct that this is a new far west subdivision? Andy connected to a good amount of hill country? If so that makes sense.

There's the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve (local to Travis County) and the Balcones Canyonland National Wildlife Refuge (South of Lago Vista).
I run trails in that area. Lots of newer houses, and greenbelt area. Seen coyotes, fox, and lots of pigs in the area.

Just the description of the photo alone tells me it's a fake.
Ursus has weighed in on here multiple times that anything east of 35 is unlikely and the reported "confirmed" sightings are suspect, at best. I'm sure he can clarify.
