Mine is a little more specific. For Christmas a few years back, I got a Falcon Tactical 8MR-T flashlight. I know it's not one of the best flashlights out there and I'm pretty sure it was bought of QVC or an infomercial. However, it was a pretty legit flashlight. It served the purpose for about 2 years until I dropped it on the concrete and now it switches modes during use so I figured it's time to get another. I use it when walking my dog along the creek at night and use it more for looking for critters/animals in the trees and water. It has a very crisp square beam when zoomed in all the way which I found very impressive. I did some basic internet searches and didn't find anything.

Yesterday I stopped by Cabela's and looked through their flashlights and ended up purchasing the below. None of the flashlights rerferenced this "square beam zoom" but I was hoping this one would have it. Well, it didn't. As a matter of fact, I thought my old Falcon Tactical 8MR-T was a better flashlight.

While it was definitely bright, the quality of the zoom was not as good. Does anyone know what this "square beam zoom" feature is called and recommend any flashlights with it?

I bought this from Amazon last year. It has the square zoom thing...I think.

The LED is square. That's why the beam is square.

Google TV Flashlight or Bell & Howell flashlight.

The Bell & Howell flashlight seems to be the one. It looks like many other companies re-brand this flashlight. This flashlight only costs $10. Do the major flashlight companies (Streamlight, etc.) not make flashlights with this high of zoom? Even the Browning one I bought when zoomed the preciseness of the zoom is poor. When I spotlight zoom I want the light confined to a small area. When I zoom with the Browning I bought, the light dispersion is quite large around the zoomed in area.

GoVolt NanoBeam N1 flashlight. Good light that has a zoom very similar to what you're describing as "square beam zoom". When focused in tight you can clearly see the defined square edges of the LED which gives the appearance of a square beam.

Edited to add: the SA Rodeo is coming up and that's where I picked mine up. They usually run some good deals at their booth there. That's of course if they still set up a booth.

My brother had a Duracell branded light several years ago that I scoffed at but I was pretty impressed when I saw it at night. Did the same square zoom. I've seen them at Costco.
