Looking for a smaller family lease in the hill country w/ some exotics. How do you find a decent place? I've given up on the apps and forums.

Call the Chamber of Commerce of the places you're interested. Is what you did before the internet; lots of old ranchers just doing what they've always done...

Take some spring time road trips to areas you're interested in. For example, head up to Mason. Have pie and a burger at Willow Creek cafe. Ask the waitress. Ask the owners. Take a drive to the local feed store. Buy something small, ask the guys there. Etc etc. You may or may not run into something, but you'll get a fun day trip out of it.

We found our lease in Menard County back in 2011 by placing an ad in the Fredericksburg newspaper. Our landowner lives in Harper and has ranches in the Hill Country. This worked great for us. We found an amazing place.

I'd be happy to put some feelers out for you in the area if you want to PM me with a little more about what you're wanting. I'm a farm & ranch agent in Fredericksburg and can try to put you in touch with some land owners looking to lease.
