I know someone who went out of their way to help me and my family recently. I'm not close to the guy and have never met him in person, but I did recently joke with him over the phone that I owe him a nice steak dinner for all the work he did.

Unfortunately, I just found out that he's getting a divorce (unexpectedly) after 16 years of marriage.

With the holidays around the corner and not knowing what his family life will look like for the upcoming months, I was thinking about mailing him some highend steaks that he could cook at his leisure whenever he needed a good meal.

Any of you have recommendations for frozen steaks that can be delivered to homes? I'm new to this, but willing to pay for the right brand.

Is Omaha steaks still a thing?

Omaha Steaks are terrible in my experience. I have never had them, but I have read good things about Snake River Farms.

Have had heard good things with Butcher Box

I was with Butcher Box for a while but recently quit them. I liked the price, the variety, the quality. My problem was, they ship on Wednesday and if there is any kind of hitch in the system, my delivery would not make it until Saturday. I am have other plans with my life than sitting around on Sat waiting for a delivery. It happened on July 4 this year. The 4th was a Wednesday so my order did not ship until Thursday which meant a Sat delivery. UGH
Then on my next delivery, they shipped on Wednesday and FedEx delayed for some reason and I had to cancel my Saturday plans and wait for a box that was half frozen, half thawed. Butcher Box was willing to replace the order, but I was already fed up and did not want to loose another Saturday. Why can't they ship Tuesday?

TLDR: LIke it but canceled because of delivery issues.

44 Farms. I've visited their place several times. Top notch operations and the place was clean as could be.

I used them for a year, finally quit two months ago. I had lots of problem with the packaging. Early on I had meat that was defrosted when it was delivered, then they changed how they packaged everything and the packages would rub together during shipping and get holes in them, so I had to repackage about 50% of the meat. I also had 3 orders that were wrong. The meat was good, it wasn't any better than the best local stuff but having it show up on my porch made it easier to decide to cook steak on a whim.

44 Farms wants $34 for a 14 oz Prime NY Strip. Then they want to charge to ship it to you. That's close to $40/ea for a frozen, raw steak. That's about the cost at a nice steakhouse.

Depending on how hot it was outside he prolly didn't want to leave frozen food on his doorstep.

The meat ships frozen with dry ice in insulated boxes however it would not be in good shape if i did not get it until sunday evening. There is no one else to bring it inside to the frig.

Why would anyone order these steaks. The Allen Bros. are $60 per pound for 4 x 12 oz strips. You can go to the nicest steak house and pay less.
