Just found them on my dog. Gave her capstar and put a topical on her. Vacuuming the house. Spraying the interior with a repellent/killer.

What should I use on the yard? I'm assuming they are there from all the rain. I was using the cutter repellent but it just gets washed away.

Treat dog. If an inside dog in any capacity, vaccuum every day for several days. Also, wash dog related beds or blankets or cloth items. Kills off the larva's.

Bravecto. Topicals on dogs suck.

Thanks guys. I haven't ever had to deal with them. I have vacuumed everything, treated the dog, and am washing all bedding and such in hot water. Ugh.

45 minutes and not a single kill it with fire comment? This board is slacking.

It's fleas. You only kill spiders with fire. This board is fine.

For the house, a pyrethroid powder on the carpet, then vacuumed up 20-30 min later. You'll have to do this every other day for about 2 weeks if they've infested the carpet.

Contrary to popular belief, vacuuming does not remove all of the living fleas, mainly just the dead ones...the larvae that have already pupated are unaffected by the powder, and only "hatch" when they sense a host nearby. Usually this is by detecting vibrations as the host walks by, so the vacuum mimics this and spurs the pupae to emerge, which then are killed by the powder.

Good news is I'm highly allergic to dust mites so I vacuum at least every other day. That may be why I haven't seen them anywhere but on her.

We don't normally have a flea problem and can get away with not using a monthly pill year round but I still use the sentinel plus monthly bc it's easier for me to remember one pill for the dogs a month than have to deal with random flea outbreaks.

You don't OB enough. Snakes, wasps and bees also fall under this. Ants, too, but those are a little different living under ground. Can't do direct flamethrower.

Try killing a rat snake with fire and you'll have a mob at your front door. I OB plenty.

Add to this dolemiscious earth, spread outside & sprinkle some on the dogs bed and blanket. It kills the flea due to the flea scratching to death.
You can buy at feed/landscape stores. I have used it 3or 4 times and has never failed.

Make sure you vacuum a couple times a week, dishes are washed, clothes washed, toilets cleaned. This all needs to be done at least weekly.

Any spray with pyrethrum for the yard. Kills fleas on contact. Spray once a week for 3 weeks and you get what was missed in egg stage.
