My stand is on a pipeline. This fall they started widening it. Sat in the stand yesterday evening and didn't see or hear anyone working. Thought to myself that I may actually have a good weekend hunt. Then...

Dynamite charges started exploding down the hill. My buddies stand is in one of the clouds of smoke. Good thing he wasn't sitting in the stand. Few minutes later a truck comes down the hill and picks up what I'm assuming is a warning sign.

In the stand this morning and deer everywhere but they have machines working over the hill. Can't help but think that they will be at my spot during the rut in December.

Disclaimer: didn't get pics or video of the explosions happening. Was too busy crapping in my pants.

A couple years ago, had some neighbors blow off some tannerite not too far from the stand I was in. You're right about the pants pooping!

My best go to hunting spot since I was a kid is a pipeline that runs through some really thick brush. The rest of the country all around this spot is nice and clean without much brush but this particular back quarter is thick.

I have a really elaborate blind of a wooden pallet wired to a mesquite tree that I sit behind at the edge of the brush looking east down the pipeline. A few times over the years I have had my hunt ruined by a low flying Cessna that routinely flys the pipeline to inspect it.

One time in particular my senior year of high school I was watching the only buck I have ever seen in person with a droptine and was waiting for him to give me a clear shot and here comes the Cessna at a few hundred feet.
I never saw that deer again even though I skipped several days of my last period ag class trying to find him, but no luck.

Sucks - expect a lot of that the next 24 months from Carlsbad to corpus and S/SW

No work today so was able to take a doe this morning. So far the deer have not left the area so hopefully I can salvage this season.

My boyhood lease between Jourdanton and Tilden was turned into a giant lignite pit.
