I've got binoculars. Leupold 10x42 for hunting, Redfield 10x42 for throwdowns in the truck, etc. Lost my el-cheapo Tasco compacts. Looking for something lightweight, and not taking up much room. Something to throw in a small backpack, put on a belt etc. Primary use will be for sporting events (ie. football).

Started looking for compact binoculars, and was intrigued by the Vortex Vanquish "compacts" in a 8x28 IIRC, but then stumbled upon a Vortex Solo Monocular in an 8x35, both of which got great reviews. The monocular has a belt clip, which would make it real easy to carry into Aggie games, or my son's games.

Does anyone have experience with these?

I've got the Solo 8x36. It's pretty nice and the optics are good and sharp. Comes in a nice little case and I keep it in the console of my Jeep where it's handy. Thinking of mounting it on the rollbar so it will be even quicker to get to. I'd buy it again if it got lost. Hope this helps.
