So I order a deer blind and stand almost a month ago. I get a call last Monday saying need to authorize a lift gate for the delivery, so I say ok. It was supposed to be delivered Friday of last week. Friday I get a call from sportsman's guide saying it will be an additional 75$ charge for the lift gate. Annoyed I begrudgingly agree. We are told we will get a call Monday to schedule delivery. Monday comes and goes no call, today has come and gone no call.

Fed up we call sportsman's guide and cancel the order. They say they have to charge us the shipping because the product shipped. Which I find odd since it's not in my driveway. (I get there is a difference between shipping and delivery, but how is a non-delivered Item the customer's responsibility)

The sportsman's guide rep said that it was not sportsman's guides problem once it leaves their warehouse, and our grievance should be with the shipping company. You know the one they use to deliver their products..

I am at a loss at what to do. I am tempted to put a block on my card or claim a fraudulent charge.

Anyone else have issues with sportsman's guide?

Do you have a tracking number? What does it say? That will dictate my answer. If they shipped and the shipper screwed up, then your beef is with the shipper and not SG.

SG should be willing to help a customer on delivery issues until the product is delivered. It is poor customer service on their part to pass the buck.

It shipped to whatever distribution company SG uses, and has been there for like 15 days.

Deny charge on credit card and get them involved - they will beat them up

Don't disagree with the first part.

Exactly this, chargebacks are for more than just fraudulent charges. If you never received the item you don't have to jack around with the shipping company. Deny the charge and let them figure it out. Customer protection is the big benefit we get from using credit cards.

It's on sportsman's guide to know what their shipping costs are at time of purchase. And if it's a decent sized safe they are probably making more than the lift gate anyways, so they should be eating the cost and moving on. God knows that I've eaten the cost on a bunch of stuff over the last three years but I chalk it up as a learning experience and move on.

If it's shipped FOB their place, you're SOL. That's something people generally have to learn the hard way, but it's a lesson that only takes once to learn. Call it tuition and go on about your life.

I'm curious what would happen if your refuse payment. You might have to get on the phone with SG and shipping company and work your way up to someone who can make judgement call desicions.

If you refuse payment, I'd think it's best to go on the offensive to let both companies know what's going on.

This is why I AMEX all online orders. Despute the charge and move on with life.

Already have. Will let you know the outcome. I will likely still have to pay it. But I sure as hell am not going to make it easy.

That is BS. At my old company, we were the final mile delivery service for larger items in Houston for customers like Amazon, Frontgate, Office Depot, etc, and you bet your ass that it was their problem if we missed a delivery. They didn't tell the customer that it wasn't their fault. They owned it and then came to us for a resolution. Hell, they had an entire department to do just that among their delivery companies, and there were set KPIs that we were held to.

Call them back and tell them to go eff themselves. In fact, they shouldn't have charged you a $75 liftgate fee. That's on them and their delivery company. If they didn't work that out before awarding them the business, that's their problem, not yours. Also, $75? We charged $25 to our customer, which was never passed onto the end customer because it was included in the shipping they were already paying as well as made up over other deliveries.

SG might be more receptive if they knew they were screwing with the OB.

Most of the internet doesn't understand this. I still wonder how much business JoeBob has lost over his shenanigans with a poster. Hell, I tried to help on that one and got told to mind my own business.

Wonderer...his beef is damn sure with Sportsman, that is where he spent his money...shipping is their responsibility. Too much "passing the buck" occurs and people let it ride, shipper is part of their responsibility!
