I'm not exactly sure what I want. I've never had a true concealed holster, but I'm tired of lugging my Glock 22 and 23 around. I might be interested in a good belt too. Just general advice I guess is what I'm looking for. Also I'm right haned and I can't imagine I would be really comfortable with my pistol in crotch Haha
Gotcha.
First things first: A good gun belt. Even with a smaller and lighter gun like a 43 (and even if you choose to pocket carry,) a gun belt is stiffer than a regular belt, which helps distribute the weight of a gun cross your hips/beltline and makes carrying more comfortable. If you're not carrying with one, you need that first.
Jabber recommended the magpul Tejas belt. I really like them too, and have one one black and one in brown. It's a thick leather belt. That hold up well, and you can even change out the buckle if you want/need something different than a standard buckle.
From there given your statements I assume you aren't going to be comfortable/ready to use pocket carry just yet and that is fine. In Waist Band (IWB) or On Waist Band (OWB) are your two options then. If you need to wear a tucked in shirt, you're going to need a tuckable IWB holster. Something like a crossbreed, alien gear, etc. Just start your search using the term "tuckable IWB holster" if that's something that is a priority. Some people find IWB to be uncomfortable, especially if their pants are already tight or they have a little something extra on the sides/front that may poke the gun and make carry uncomfortable. If you need to, buy bigger pants, adjust where the holster rides to find a happy medium. The other option if you're lucky enough to not have to worry about a tucked in shirt is an OWB holster. These are usually more comfortable since they aren't actually in your pants but riding on the outside. An untucked polo or fishing shirt is usually sufficient to cover them up, especially for a smaller gun like a 43.
Leather vs Kydex vs Hybrid: Kydex is faster to draw from. It also retains shape better. It can also be more uncomfortable. Leather is usually more comfortable carry option, but leather can deform over time, leading to unsafe holstering, especially on guns that don't have manual safeties like Glocks. It can also be harder to draw from, especially when new. Hybrid holsters use a nylon (if cheaper like alien gear) or leather backing to be more comfortable and a kydex shell to hold the gun itself, mixing the best of both.
What holster is going to work best for you depends so much on your body type, dress, and daily activities that though we can all recommend things that have worked for us, in the end you're probably going to be stuck buying several different holsters before you find one that works just right for you. Most folks who carry a lot have a drawer full of holsters they've tried and discarded.
Good luck!
