I got three big azaleas I planted in front of my house three years ago. One is looking rough and losing leaves. You know of any tricks to bring it back?

Need more info. Can you get pics?
Where do you live? Did you amend the soil?

Put pine needles around the base.

Azalea are acid loving and water chugging shallow root plants. Use some Holly-tone fertilizer (not when in bloom), mulch, and make sure they get lots of water.

And while they can make it in shaded areas it can't be all shade; they have to have some sunlight.

So if your one that's struggling is in a spot that gets little to no sun it might be the location and not the plant.

They need to be in a fairly well drained bed though, too much water saturation leads to root rot. Which is why most beds need to be above ground beds if you live in areas with clay soil.

Also want an area that doesn't get full sun or shade if I remember correctly from when I was used as forced labor by Dad to plant his bushes. 40% to 60% shade I think?

Here is the azalea bush in question. I went to Lowe's yesterday and got some Miracle Gro for azaleas and sprayed the plant pretty thoroughly. I have my sprinkler system set to water twice per week for a very short amount of time. Yes...I'm in norhteast texas so there's lots of clay in my soil.

I hope its not dieback.

With clay soil, I would back off the watering if it were me.

Looks like an azalea that just stopped blooming to me. They are generally a little weaker looking just after the bloom. Make sure they aren't overwatered, fertilize and they should be ok.

I personally don't like azaleas for that reason. IMO they look really good for 2 weeks, really bad for 6 weeks after that and just a normal green shrub that takes care for the rest of the year.

Good points. I usually assume that lots of water does not equal soaking the roots and letting them sit in too much water but it's best to be clear.

Looks like lack of water to me. Run a test cycle and see if you are getting adequate irrigation. That head in the center of the bed should give you good coverage.
