This year will be my first time to purchase an "off-cycle" fishing license, meaning it is not part of my August to August seasonal super combo (hunt + fish).
I found the 2017 post below on TPWD so looks like there is a true annual (date to date vs seasonal) option for fishing, regardless of when purchased:
Looks like the annual license is my best bet now because a super combo would expire in August in 5 months. Now.. if I do plan on buying a hunting license in August, can I buy a pro-rated fishing license today from just March to August? Weighing all my options.
I would like to have this lined out before I talk to someone at Academy who may not know what they're doing. Thoughts?

AUSTIN The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) reminds hunters and anglers that the new 2017-2018 licenses go on sale Tuesday, Aug. 15. All current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except year-to-date fishing licenses) expire Aug. 31
