Pruning oak trees

Most of what I've read says avoid it from Feb 1 through July 1. Does that hold this year given the cold weather, or any experts here think pushing it back to March 1 is safe? I'm in San Antonio.

And regardless of that answer, should it be fine to trim other species regardless of the time?

TIA.

Not a pro, but temperature definitely plays a significant role, since you're trying to avoid Nitidulid beetles. "The least hazardous periods for pruning are during the coldest days of midwinter or extended periods of hot weather in mid- to late summer."

Always been told to cut at the coldest or hottest time of year. Since oak wilt has been so bad the past couple of years I would say only the coldest. I would cut the oak trees ASAP and not wait until march. I think you will be fine since cold spurts are still coming through. I just cut mine about 2 weeks ago.

I always trim my other trees at the same time as the oak.
