The only place in lajitas is the resort really. In Terlingua there Starlight lounge or La Kiva. Starlight sometimes has live music.

Last post correct. La kiva and Starlight , 2 hour wait at Starlight. Get there early. Don't eat at steakhouse in Alpine- crap. Great breakfast place next to Starlight

Went to La Kiva last year. Long wait. Definitely popular with the locals.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. When the majority of the opposition party insists on voting for an opposition candidate who can't win, you get exactly the government you deserve. - Well Endowed Ag

I liked the Chili Pepper cafe down the road in Terlingua.

There was another place nearby called Rio Bravo that did not score very well in my book.

Both were very very basic Mexican food places.

That area is my favorite place in the world, but get fine dining out of your mind. Can't speak for the resort in Latina's, never eaten there. Starlight in Terlingua is good, get the chicken fried antelope with jalapeo gravy or the colossal burger with fried eggs on it. Alpine has Reata, but it's a ways from Lajitas. Now, Marathon has the Gage and their 12 Gage restaurant which is the best dining experience of anything between El Paso and San Antonio, but same as Alpine it's a trek from Lajitas.

Have fun, that's a special place in Texas.

The resort is fine for breakfast but I wouldn't eat dinner there. La Kiva was great last time we went. If they're doing it, the starlight cowboy cookout they offer at the resort is fun too.

Hot Springs inside the park, after dark, when the kids are home for school.

My wife and I love this part of the state.

If you want to spend an evening, go to the taproom at Big Bend brewery and enjoy a couple of beers, then the Reata for dinner.

I still haven't gone to their location in Fort Worth, but apparently they have one.

That's not so common, even considering its Mexico. There's actually not many people there from either side of the border since it is so isolated. People cross from the Mexico side at night sometimes.

Last time I was there we stayed at the Dorado a couple of nights and up in the Chisos at the hotel one night. Got lucky on that one and hit a day with a couple of openings. The campground was chock full up there though. The park hotel restaurant is so/so at best. Had a blast at the High Sierra bar in Terlingua but partly because it was their employee, friends and guests Christmas party that night with live music and free vodka drinks for anyone that happened to be there.

Had breakfast a couple of times at the gas station diner in Terlingua and it was good enough diner food. Also camped one night at the Cottonwood Campground on the west side, and another night at the Rio Grande Village campground. It was cold in December, but not too bad, at least when we were there. It was actually pleasantly warm during the day. This year could be much different.

Harry's Tinaja in Alpine is a great establishment for an impomptu bluegrass jam session.

Been closed since 9/11 I believe. Tire tracks look like some folks still do.

Can confirm. I had two nice dinners there this week. Also, they offer a cork fee if you travel with your own wine.

I stand corrected. Not sure how I missed that news.

Wasn't there a crossing off FM170 just south of Lajitas that closed post 9/11?

Highest end dining in Big Bend is the 12 Guage in Marathon and the resort restaraunt at Lajitas. Both are very, very good. I would give the edge to 12 Guage for ambiance and food quality but that doesn't mean Lajitas isn't right there. Starlight ballroom in Terlingua is not fine dining at all but the food is excellent and the entertainment is fun. The starlight dinner offered by Lajitas is a good time as well.

You need a passport for Boquillas.

Go to Boquillas during the day for beers and nachos. Not much of a fine dining place but a great afternoon spot.

I was nervous going over the first few times but have been the last few years and I really don't worry anymore.

It's like a VERY small Laredo from back in the day. Like said above, you do need a passport
