I sent my 870 Express Magnum back to Remington 3 times and it never operated properly. I have a 500 and have no issues. I would rather have a 590 but the price was right. Also the Maverick 88 is a decent gun.

Remington all day...only because I have never owned a mossberg and have multiple 870s that have never failed.

I prefer the controls of the 870's

If you need a pump, the correct answer is an Ithica model 37.

You're welcome.

New 870 have a lot of issues. Older 870's are bullet proof. The 590 is pretty solid.

I have a 590. The only reason I purchased it over an 870 was because I preferred the placement of the safety and the action release. It's been solid for me. I think the 590 has a thicker barrel than the 870 (or the Mossberg 500) - weighs more but should be more durable. You'll have a larger assortment of aftermarket parts/mods for the 870.
