I'd like to get into calling. I have ability to hunt day or night (with nv scope and thermal handheld). In your experience, which has been more productive in regards to coyotes? Early morning, evening or night? What times? All tips and suggestions welcome!

I've been equally successful during the daylight as during the dark. The only times I just seem to not be able to get anything to come in is from 2am to 5am.

I hunt them anytime I can. I like night hunting better and I prefer nights with little to no moon.

Depending on the wind, I can bring in the coyotes closer at night. During the day I feel like I have to make a quicker shot as they are a little more active and jumpy. During the day I typically try to hide the caller, whereas at night I place it in more open areas which may or may not give better range and sound. I do not have a thermal or NV, so my night hunting is limited to a red light.

Much more active in the night in west Texas. I have been surprised how well a howl works, especially 2 howls yipping at once. They think that it is a pack encroaching on their territory. Hope that you dust some dogs.

Does anybody have a remote call they recommends? I'd like one that I can locate around 60-70 yards away and control remotely.

FoxPro is the best of the mainstream callers but they can be expensive. If you're calling in the daylight some type of moving decoy is a great help to draw attention away from the shooter.

Also very helpful to have some sub-freezing weather. 5* and 6 inches of snow makes for great coyote calling weather. Coyotes get super active and really need to hunt during cold weather.

A friend of mine is a semiprofessional coyote hunter. He usually goes out at dark and calls until after midnight, naps for a few hours then calls some more until daylight. He uses a Foxpro to call them in.

Also uses IR Defense thermal scopes and has a custom built high rack truck.

Generally speaking, their peak activity time is 10 PM to midnight.

I've heard many say that fox and bobcat move most at night and coyotes move more in daylight. Thoughts?

Game cam at the family place has been catching a lot of coyotes and bobcats in the middle of the day. I found that to be odd, but maybe not?

This time of year, depending on energy requirements, they may be active at any time.
