Grandpa used to harvest a crap ton of pecans from his 20 tree orchard. He would advertise them at the feed store and in the newspaper. Made good money off of them. Prices in store are outrageous for shelled pecans.
My dad sells his wholesale to a buyer in San Angelo. Getting 90 cents a pound this year for un-shelled natives. This guy shells them and sells them to candy companies.
Prices are indicative of what it costs to produce pecans each year on a commercial level.
If you are looking to sell pecans year after year the national magazine for the pecan industry, Pecan South, has a section during the fall dedicated to finding people to sell your pecans to each year, a list of buyers to contact. www.pecansouthmagazine.com
