Decided to get in a hunt this morning since it's the nicest morning temperature wise in a week+. Deer out in the field early, feeling confident. Feeder goes off as planned but problem is it didn't stop. I give it 20-30 seconds and have to get out of the blind and go disconnect the battery. Deer bolt, of course. Back in blind. Perhaps I'll take a nap now.

At least you didn't see the biggest buck of your life after shooting time yesterday...

Had that happen on one of my feeders a month or so ago. Except mine decided to do it at about 1 am and spin almost the entire contents of the feeder out. Only thing that saved some of my corn was the battery died before it could spin every last kernel out.

be happy you made the correct decision to follow the law. so many otherwise good people make big mistakes when it comes to large horns.

Ugh how frustrating!!!! I have one of those (supposedly) hog-proof capsule feeders and something keeps slipping off the mechanism inside that causes the auger to pick up corn. I've worked on it and thought I fixed it 3x now but when I was in the blind Sunday evening it went off with a terrible loud noise and no corn and probably frightened everything in a half mile radius.

A young buck actually just came out but he didn't so much as look my way. He was on the trail of the two doe that were out when the feeder mishap went down.

We've actually had that happen several times with different feeders. It seems like it happens when the battery gets low. It will run one cycle and then doesn't shut off and will slowly spin until the entire feeder is empty. It sucks to drive up to a pile of 100+ lbs of corn on the ground.

Have a meeting back in town in a few so called it an early hunt around 8:30. Disconnected the battery/wiring and set it all back up and it spun/threw fine in test mode. Battery is connected to solar so it's pretty much always fully charged. Going to replace the timer anyway b/c lost confidence in it now. Guess it's somewhat expected to happen at some point when you use the cheapest stuff Academy has (Game Winner). Oh well...luckily I was out there and was able to salvage some corn.
