Got invited to hunt with three other guys this season. I've only been duck hunting once, loved it but that was years ago and have been a little overwhelmed to jump in without going with some guys that know what they are doing. Took a while to meet some guys that duck hunt and felt fortunate they asked me to join them.

I do a little leather work for fun and decided i should make myself a leather duck strap to carry ducks. Since The guys were good enough to include me I thought I'd make them custom straps also. I just completed hand tooling the shoulder straps (the hard part), now I need to stain them, waterproof and assemble the noose portion. Progress pics below:




Now I just need to finish these things up and get on some ducks.

After you upload the pic click on it to where the screen becomes your picture. An arrow will pop up and that'll give you the jpg file you need to imbed on here

Thanks for the help. The pictures show up for me now.

The ROOT/TEAL strap was finished this evening, the dark spots are where it is still a little wet.

Teal is the name of the retriever and Root is her owner. Figured it would only be right to include her with the gang.

I'd personally want mine much darker leather though.

They are still raw leather, i haven't stained/dyed them yet. They can be made into just about any color (except lighter).

Paloma, third and ducks. i'm still working on these, once i get done i'll figure out if i have time to do any more. My project list is starting to get long with Christmas gift requests from my Mom and Wife. Appreciate the offers though, i'd definitely like to take you up on it if i can.

Finished products. The one on the right is mine, it was the test subject. It came out darker than i wanted but that's ok, was able to adjust on the others. Glad they are done!

Thanks for the compliments. I didn't intend to promote them for gain, just wanted to share something I was doing that I think is cool. That being said, I have enough time to make 4 more of these if anyone is interested. If there is enough interest to make another set of 4 it's worth it to me to do another run.

For the sake of being upfront i'd prefer to try to fund some gear purchases rather than go on hunts due to family obligations and limited time this season, though i'm open to offers. Send an email to aaronmoreno at gmail dot com if you want to work something out.

I stuck a pencil in mine one time and called it good. Never checked by a GW but I also never researched to see if that was legal.

I've been checked twice, one time I had a pencil, the other time a good stick. Both times non issues, just wanted to see I couldn't go over my shell capacity.
