Trying to figure out which direction to go for the Ruger American Ranch I ordered from EyeGuy.

Right now I'm thinking a 1-4 or 1-6 and to treat it as a brush and hog gun.

Been looking a bit and I can get a PST 1-4 on eBay for the right price or a primary arms 1-6 with bdc for 7.62x39. Any other suggestions or anyone on here running a low powered scope on a bolt?

I have the CZ 527. I prefer iron sights on this type of brush carbine.

I would shoot it with open sights for a while first but if you know you want a scope, light weight, low power will be the way to go. I would do a fixed power Leupold.

The Ruger only comes with a Pictatinny rail...no sights.

Plus it's threaded and eventually will be shot with a can which causes issues with irons typically.

Oh wow. Didn't expect that from ruger.

Just the way things are now. Most bolt guns either come with a rail or drilled and tapped for a scope.

Off the top of my head the Savage hog hunter come with irons and that's about it for entry level center-fire bolt guns from the major American manufacturers. Remington has some in the more expensive 700 variants. Ruger's gunsite scout has them as well but it's about 2x the price of the Ruger American line.

I'll second that. I have 3 on different guns, and they've never let me down.

I was leaning towards the primary arms. I already have a 4x ACSS prism on an AR. Just seeing what else was out there before I went with the 1-6 ACSS.

This is important to me. Just picked up the same rifle in 300BLk. I guess I'm getting the PA scope too

They should be coming out with a FDE of the 1-6 in the near future btw. I'll probably wait for that one

I meant the PA scope, which doesn't matter if you're putting yours in a Magpul stock

I changed my reply after I re-read your post. I was thinking you meant you planned to pick up a new Ruger Ranch 300BLk in FDE with 1-6 barrel twist

I have a Leupold VX-3 1.75-6x32 on my 7.62x39 AR. It's perfect.

Totally forgot that. He told me that when I ordered the Ruger.

Not aware of any scopes you mount to your hip.

They are behind getting orders out. Should be to us late next week or early the week after.

Any idea on this week or next? Planning to come in Saturday if they're in.

Just got a tracking number but they haven't been picked up yet... also already says delayed... so.... they're coming but yeah.
