My wife and I are planning to go to New Braunfels this summer...next month. What day should we go to the water park, Sunday or Monday. Or is another day best?

Mid week is best

Monday is better than friday

Yes. As a local that takes my kid at 5:00 on the weekdays, we avoid it on the weekends. Monday better than Sunday, but Tues-Wed is best bet for low-ish crowds.

Hope for a little rain in the forecast one afternoon. They stay open if it's raining - just not with lightening. Rain runs the people off and park crowd really dies off.

I prefer Tuesday, start at the new park and ride the master blaster, the falls and dragons revenge then go over to the old park and enjoy short lines for all the old tube chutes the rest of the day.

i want to know when they renamed the rides. Dragon's revenge used to be Dragon Blaster.

Wiki says they did when they opened the master blaster in 1994

I didn't know it had a different name before

Thanks for the offer but we already have a nice hotel lined up. We can attest to the rain point, we went a few years again and it rained and it was so nice....cold but empty.

We're also planning to go on a hike around the area, any reccomendations? I know there are a few State parks in the area.

Wait, they renamed the Master Blaster? Is that because everyone kept moving the letters around?

No, it's still Master Blaster. Dragon Blaster in Surfenburg changed to Dragons Revenge

Any other hiking in the area? Seems like Guadalupe St. Park is the only real option for hiking

panther canyon in land park. Nothing technical but a neat stroll up the balcones.

We'd prefer more hiking trails than walking trails that Landa park seemed to offer.

What is the hiking like in Guadalupe, I assume not as much elevation as Garner

Guadalupe is relatively flat. Not much hiking around.

look up the Madrone trail near canyon lake. You can also pay to hike down the gorge that was created during the 2002 flood. You take a bus up to the spill way and hike down.

Gotta hit Gruene Hall for a beer while you're there. It's family friendly. Also, there are some good restaurants in the NB area.

The park died when they got rid of that ride down the top of the front entrance. It was a right of passage carrying those 40lb sleds up those stairs.

The SchlitterCoaster. A lot of work for a ride that lasted about 2 seconds, it was fun though.

Yep. The old man told me I couldn't ride it until I hauled that sled up on my own. I think I was nine or ten before I was able to do it.

They still have it but with mats instead of the sled.

We ended up going out to Perdinales Falls. It was a good time hiking around the falls and along the river. We did about 8 miles.

Tubed the Guadalupe today and were hitting Schlitterbahn tomorrow.

Wednesday were either going to Guadalupe St Park or going to walk around Landa park and get in the river there some

Just got back from Schlitterbahn. Found out it's cheaper to stay at the "resort" for a night if you're going to the park for two days. You get discounted tickets for two full days at the park if you stay one night in their hotel. Also get an extra hour in the morning at the big rides before park opens to the public.

Family of 4 it would have been $372 for two days of park tickets alone but it was $351 for a night at the resort with two days of tickets.

Not true. Surfenburg and Blastenhoff use city water.
