Do NOT get this one. Our patio is 14'x20', enclosed on 3 sides. Other than the way this fan looks we are completely dissatisfied with it. It's so crappy I think it might actually extract air from the patio instead of circulate it.
Check out Fanimation fans. They make multiple sizes. We have their three blade fans in our cabana and they work very well. They make multiple sizes and multiple blade fans. You won't be disappointed.
Is the 14x20 as big as you want/need it to be? We are evaluating a porch exactly 14x20 and it feels small when I mark it off. I'm worried that a table/chairs/grill will essentially take all the space. We originally wanted a 40ft length but the quote came in substantially higher than we were expecting.
We have a standard ceiling fan which does a little but I put up a 14" Global Industrial fan up, thing is loud but it sure moves some air. They are around $120 each
Main quote was with Stonecraft Builders, LLC. They built a 10' x 40' covered patio on a previous house of ours. They did an outstanding job and made minor modifications at my request (no charge). We ended up getting one competing quote that was $2K less but the contractor admittedly had never done a covered patio. If it's going to tie into my house I need someone with examples of previous work. We ended up deciding to put the project on hold while we think about whether to do the full 40' or if 20' will work for us. Due to the design of the house, the 20' section is a cutout so it would not look awkward to only do a section.
Yes, it's the Big Ass Fan Essence. We replaced the little fan that came with the house. Wife ordered the fan(s), one for porch and one for living area and had a local Austin electrical contractor install them. They're pricey but we think the air they move around helps with AC inside and definitely keeps cool on porch. Hell, we don't even run them full speed. We've also since had a Haiku installed in bedroom, dogs love it.
We have one of those big 24" Global Industries wall mounted oscillating numbers. Pros: no mosquitos or anything near its blast radius: cons: it sounds like a WWII prop plane taking off from my porch. I'm going to downsize to a smaller diameter and see if that works. Moves way more air than we need and is, thus, way too loud.
